Welcome to Gordondulcimers.com, makers of fine dulcimers since 1976.

My name isn’t Gordon, it’s Geoff. Gordon was my father. I chose to name my dulcimers after him for a number of reasons. Gordon taught me that if you wanted or needed something, you should just go ahead and build it. He also, perhaps foolishly, let me use his woodworking tools when I was very young. Plus, Gordon is a lot easier to pronounce and spell.

Gordon never played the dulcimer. In fact, he never saw one until I built my first instrument. He was however a talented musician, leading his own big band as vocalist and violinist in the early 1930s.

Yes, that’s a young Gordon sitting on a post, surrounded by his extended family in upstate New York, 1921. Enjoy this site.
